Bank Problems
My bank here has decided they will no longer cash my Canadian cheques. They're not usually pleased when I bring them in and it generally takes around a month to process them. Until now this has worked fine, I mean it's inconvenient when I need the money right away but so far it's been the only option. Recently I found a bank around here that will process international cheques in a week with no complaints but unfortunately they will not give me an account because I am Canadian and do not have a social security number. Nathaniel does however have an account with this bank so we are asking that all cheques be made out to Nathaniel Lane and then he will cash them for me.
**This is only temporary, things will get much easier when I finally get my visa! **
Thanks!

Ok so it's been a while...over a month actually.
Things are busy!
I'm planning a wedding and trying to keep up with the rest of life, can you really blame me?
Wedding planning is going well. Things are coming together and brainstorming the details is fun. This whole process has definitely brought out a lot of our differences and it's been good way to learn even more about each other. With all the ups and downs of the whole thing at the end of the day we're excited to be married in just 81 days!
We have new students once again. I feel as though I am always saying that but I guess it's true, each three month period goes by so fast! This quarter is smaller than the last few have been since it's summer time. Summer schools seem to be smaller since we haven't been running them as long as the other ones.
The students right now are fun. They're all really different but they seem to connect quite well. I've been blessed to have a significant amount of time in the kitchen this quarter and the opportunity to get to know the students in this way.
We are still raising money for the new campus, we got an extension on the closing date. Praise God for that! The new closing date is August 31, 2010 so be praying for that!
Well I hope you are all doing fabulous! Shoot me an email and let me know how things are going! sjrinas@ywamorlando.com

Always an Airport Disaster
I have come to realize that the airport will just never be a place I enjoy being. I always have some kind of problem, usually it's with visa or i get selected for a random search which is generally quite time consuming and slightly invasive.
This weekend Nathaniel and I flew to Chicago for his brothers wedding. Since We were only crossing state borders I figured thsi would be an easy trip through the airport. The way there was simple, a quick trip through the airport and a 2.5 hour flight.
The way back was a nightmare.
A friend of ours works for an airline and was able to get us really cheap tickets if we didnt mind flying stand by, naturally having little money we decided this was the route to go. Apparently when an airline employee buys the tickets you are given what is called a "Buddy Pass", what we didnt know was that this buddy pass requires you to dress in business casual attire. We unfortunately did not find this out until we reached the airport on Sunday at noon and went to check in and the lady informed us we would not be able to board the plane in our shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. Not to worry though, being that we had just attended a wedding Nathaniel had a suit and I had a dress and some heels. We figured we would change and be on our way. The lady then informed me that my shoulders would need to be covered. Oh Goodness, my racy shoulders! The only thing I had that would cover my shoulders was a sweatshirt and the lady made it quite clear that my sweatshirt did not go well with my dress and heels.
She advised we take our luggage and catch a city bus to the nearest Walmart to purchase appropriate attire before the next flight which she said was at 6pm.
I was so blown away that we were not allowed on the plane all because of my bare shoulders I didnt even know how to respond!
So we made our way to Super Target (much like Walmart for you Canadians) where I purchased a cute cardigan to go with my dress.
Now dressed in the appropriate attire we made our way back to the airport only to find that the 6pm flight we had been instructed to take did not exist! I do not know how that happened but one way or another the next flight did not leave until 8pm. So we sat around bored out of our minds for another 4 hours while we waited for the next flight which was actually delayed until 9.
When the flight started boarding I was so excited to get out of that airport and get back to Orlando! My excitement was quickly shot down as the flight filled up and there was no room! I had never flown stand by before and it hadn't occurred to me that we may not get on a flight that evening.
As it turned out I didnt get back to Orlando until late afternoon the next day and it took Nathaniel a full day after that!
Needless to say I do not think we will ever fly stand by again.

Lawn Crew
YWAM Orlando owns 16 houses that all our students and staff pack into. These houses require a lot of maintenance including lawn mowing.
This is where "Lawn Crew" comes in. Lawn crew consists of 5 or 6 people who spend their Tuesday mornings mowing all 16 lawns. This quarter I became one of these people.
I can count the number of lawns I have mowed on one hand so it's been a new experience for sure. As strange as this is, I love it. It's nasty hot here, it's ridiculously humid, I end up covered in sweat, grass and dirt but it's kinda fun! It feels so satisfying, at the end of the morning I feel like I've really accomplished something.
Pretty sweet.
